The Revolutionary 50mm Driver Unit
The SMB-01L utilizes FOSTER Electric’s MT050A 50mm high-end driver unit. The driver’s “bio-dyna diaphragm,” made of bio-cellulose material, models the sound structure of a large speaker and features a “free-edge” structure that allows for a higher resolution and dynamic range.
The driver units create the ultimate standard of flatness for mid to low- frequencies, a wide reproductive band with significantly low distortion. Driver units with a wider diameter typically improve bass and limit treble playback, but with PHONON’s unique tuning method, the SMB-01L achieves a stunning acoustic balance and a sound that closely resembles that of large high-end audio systems.
