The SMB-01L uses 50 mm drivers to deliver natural deep bass and PHONON’s distinctive sense of acoustic space. The free-edge surround supports responsive diaphragm movement with low energy loss, providing extended frequency response and a wide dynamic range.
PHONON’s tuning creates a balanced sound that closely resembles large studio monitoring systems.
Advanced 50 mm drivers
The SMB-01L uses FOSTER Electric’s MT050A, a high-end 50 mm driver designed for low distortion and a wide frequency range. It combines a powerful magnetic circuit with a bio-cellulose “Bio-Dyna” diaphragm and a free-edge surround for extended frequency response and a wide dynamic range.
The drivers provide a flat response in the mid and low frequencies. Compared with the 40 mm drivers in the SMB-02, the SMB-01L uses 50 mm drivers. Larger drivers tend to improve bass reproduction while reducing high-frequency output. PHONON’s tuning balances these characteristics to achieve a sound close to large studio monitors.
Interchangeable side plates
Interchangeable side plates let you switch between closed-back and semi-open configurations in the same pair of headphones.
